Senior Systems Engineer

Overview

DILIGENT Consulting Inc. is seeking a skilled Systems Engineer to support the Test and Integration Laboratory under the USTRANSCOM Managed Information Technology Services (MITS) contract at Scott Air Force Base. This position supports the U.S. Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM) in the operations and modernization of its infrastructure, systems, and applications within the TCJ6 Directorate.


Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain, configure, and operate:

    • Network servers

    • Server virtualization systems

    • Laptops, desktops, and Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI)

    • Supporting hardware/software systems

  • Perform server and application administration including:

    • User/group management, security policies, print services

    • System monitoring and performance optimization

    • Patch management and upgrades

  • Build, test, and deploy new servers and services

  • Monitor enterprise systems using tools to analyze logs, alerts, capacity, and resource utilization

  • Develop and maintain troubleshooting procedures and system documentation

  • Coordinate with internal and external teams (e.g., service desk, network techs)

  • Implement and monitor cybersecurity controls per DoD standards

  • Plan and perform system backups, disaster recovery, and failover strategies

  • Maintain inventory and configuration records

  • Ensure 24/7 system support availability, including on-call rotation for after-hours or weekend support


Required Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizenship

  • Active DoD Secret clearance or higher

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS)

  • 10+ years of relevant IT systems engineering experience

  • At least one IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+, CySA+, GSEC, SSCP, etc.)

  • At least one Computing Environment (CE) certification for relevant platforms (e.g., Microsoft, Linux, Cisco, Splunk, McAfee)


Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree (MA/MS)

  • ITIL V4 Foundations certification

  • Project Management certification (e.g., PMP, Google PM)

  • One of the IAM Level II certifications (e.g., CISSP, CASP+ CE, CISM, CAP, CCISO)
